Digestive Health Expert and Author Dr. Joe Brasco Recommends Raw Probiotics™!

Posted by: Ursula Zamora on Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Joseph Brasco is a renowned digestive health expert, an author of several health and nutrition books, and a medical expert for Garden of Life. He skillfully combines diet, supplementation, and judicious use of medications to provide a comprehensive treatment program for his patients that reflects the insight of several disciplines. For some of his patients with digestive health challenges, Dr. Brasco recommends Garden of Life's probiotics such as Primal Defense, Raw Probiotics, Perfect Cleanse and several others.

“Probiotics are beneficial microflora that play a critical role in maintaining good health,” says Dr. Brasco. Healthy human intestines contain billions of both good and potentially harmful microorganisms. The good bacteria in the intestines are considered to be an integral part of normal immune system support."

Dr. Brasco is especially fond of RAW Probiotics and personally takes Raw Probiotics for Men each day to balance his gut flora.

“RAW Probiotics™ are important because they can synthesize certain vitamins and short-chain fatty acids to support a healthy intestinal lining and bolster immunity,” states Dr. Brasco. “When your intestinal lining is occupied by healthy beneficial flora, it deprives unwelcome microorganisms of both space and nutrients.”

Dr. Brasco adds that healthy people usually have a ratio of approximately 85% good to 15% potentially harmful organisms in the intestinal tract. In some cases, even those who appear to be well might have an unfavorable ratio as a result of daily exposure to environmental toxins and a modern lifestyle. He said that taking antibiotics, for example, or drinking chlorinated water may change the optimal microbial balance essential for good health.

Garden of Life RAW Probiotics™ are targeted supplements with original culture strains from Bulgarian yogurt and Eastern European Wild Kefir with additional strains to provide benefits for specific ages and genders. Each of these whole food probiotic formulas provide more than 30 powerful probiotic strains, along with probiotic-created co-factors, including vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants and probiotics. RAW Probiotics are also delivered in a prebiotic base of RAW fruits and veggies sourced directly from the region of Bulgaria where the probiotics were discovered.

Total health begins in the gut, so an optimized digestive tract has a plethora of health benefits. RAW Probiotics™ support healthy gut flora balance, promote regular bowel function, and maintain a normal immune system — all of which are necessary to support overall health. RAW Probiotics™ maximize the benefits of a healthy diet by supporting normal absorption and assimilation of nutrients in the gut.

Dr. Brasco earned his Medical Doctorate at the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed his residency at the University of Illinois, Chicago. His credibility and knowledge of his craft is demonstrated by the impact he is making in the lives of his patients. His practice is in Huntsville, Alabama and he has certifications by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. In his spare time, competes in weight lifting competitions.

For my husband, I'm looking for s diet to make his rare AUTO-IMMUNE disease (relapsing polychondritis) never flare up again. Drs. in my area have NO advice except steroids. My research led me to put him on an anti-inflammatory diet, fermented sauerkraut, 98% vegan, & no processed foods. I give him vegetarian probiotic caps, krill caps, & sometimes bromelain caps (if a restaurant puts cheese on his food). Garden of Life RAW Enzymes seem to be a good idea for digesting any animal protein that perhaps his body is confusing with his own cartilage. What do you recommend? Lyn
