Garden of Life Sponsored Athlete Joe Gray National 50K Champion...Again!

Posted by: Ursula Zamora on Wednesday, March 06, 2013

On March 3, Garden of Life sponsored ultramarathoner Joseph Gray was in Huntington, NY for the The 50k Merrell Caumsett State Park National Championship.  The 50K run was also a national championship.

Race day forecast showed temperatures ranging between 28 and 41 degrees (That's -2 to 5 Celsius for my International friends) with high winds (Up to 24 MPH gusts).  Joe had his Raw Protein readied for his run-he had it mixed with electrolytes to make sure that he would have continuous engergy throughout the lengthy course.

The course took Joe and his fellow competitors over 10 laps of 5 kilometers around Caumsett State Park. Joe started ahead of pace and stayed on or around pace over the nearly 28 miles of flats and hills.  Though he did slow a bit in his last lap, it was more than enough to not only win his second championship in a row, but he also set the Washington State time record and just missed the course record by 14 seconds.

Congratulations on being a 5 Time US Champion with 2 in a row, Joe!

Your recipe sounds similar to how I make mine now and it's so good! I have never tried coconut flour or other nut flours in my smoothies. I will have to try this, thanks!... Read More
