Getting to know Sponsored BMX Athlete Josh Perry

Posted by: Garden of Life on Monday, May 27, 2013

Hello-my name is Josh Perry and I am a professional BMX athlete living in Greenville, NC. I represent Eastern Bikes, FearTheFighter apparel, Vans Shoes, Bern Helmets, Novik Gloves and now Garden of Life.

Originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, I developed my passion for riding at the local skateparks.  I made a name for myself by placing top 10 in a web video contest in 2007. Later that year, I made it into my first Dew Tour competition and made the move to Greenville, NC aka "Pro Town USA"  in 2008. In 2009 I made my first X-Games invite appearance, rode my first international contest, rode the invitational only Nike HB contest, and placed 7th at Dave Mirra`s personal invitational contest at his personal training facility.

In April of 2010 I was diagnosed with a brain tumor (click for video interview). This was the most major set back of an injury I have ever had, but it was successfully removed. I returned to riding in July 2010 and was back into filming, traveling and riding in demos, as well as competing. I was then offered a wildcard to the final two stops of Dew Tour in 2011 and at the Las Vegas stop I made my first final. (Read Dew Tour Interview here)

Having a brain tumor has changed my outlook on life as well as motivated me to learn more about nutrition and how to live in a healthier manner. Since then I have had the most fun I can with BMX and have turned my health around drastically. I reached out to Garden of Life because of my new focus on my personal health and well being.

I have also been fortunate enough to travel the world promoting what I love to do most! My BMX bike has taken me all over Europe, Canada, the Middle East, India, France, and Spain and am so grateful for that. I hope people reading this are motivated to follow their dreams as well as take care of their bodies!
