Stocking A Vegan Easter Basket

When I took a peep at the aisles of Easter goodies in several stores, I wasn't thrilled with the giant, hollow chocolate bunnies, jelly beans with funky artificial colors or peanut butter eggs loaded with preservatives. Looking for a better option, I checked out our friend Alicia Silverstone's popular web site, The Kind Life (www.thekindlife.com) and found some great recommendations for taming a sweet tooth. One of Alicia's favorites is a company called Sweet and Sarah, a company that offers handmade, vegan, all natural treats that are out of this world!

 


 


For our Easter basket, we scooped up the company's most popular item -- vegan marshmallows! Light, airy, and oozing with gooey flavors, we tried Cinnamon Pecan, Strawberry, and a Variety Sampler. They should come with a warning advising parents not to sample these treats, as they are so addictive that none will be left for the kids! We were also curious about the non-GMO marshmallows and found they were every bit as good as advertised and perfect for throwing in recipes or adding to hot chocolate.

 


 
In addition to the melt-in-your-mouth marshmallows, we added a vegan chocolate bunny, a Rocky Road bark bar, and a S'mores bar stacked with organic homemade graham crackers. For an occasional sugar coma (and we stress "occasional" because regular sugar throws us off our health routine!) Sweet and Sarah treats are yummy-licious and not overly sweet.
