Raw Protein Recovery Cookies

Posted by: Rhonda Price on Wednesday, May 07, 2014

At Garden of Life, we love to “shake and bake” with Raw Protein. When we’re not mixing it with almond milk or coconut water to create delicious shakes and smoothies, we’re making raw protein cookies, candies, oatmeal and anything else we can think of that needs a healthy protein boost! We’ve named the latest batch “recovery cookies” because they are thick and packed with Raw Protein and peanut butter, making them ideal for munching on after a workout. They are ideal if you’d like to take a break from your shake after working out or even if you’d like to grab a few for a quick breakfast. If you’d like to try them, here are the ingredients we used:

1 packet (or one scoop) Raw Protein Vanilla (or your favorite flavor)

1/3 cup organic peanut butter, creamy style

½ cup organic applesauce (sweetened or unsweetened)

2 bananas

1 ½ cups oats (quick cooking work best for this)

1 tsp. vanilla extract

¼ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

¼ cup carob chips or vegan chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mash bananas with a fork in a large bowl. Add peanut butter, applesauce, Raw Protein, oats, vanilla extract, nuts and carob or chocolate chips. Mix with a wooden spoon until thoroughly combined. Let the mixture rest in the bowl for 10-15 minutes.

Drop dough by the tablespoon onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Add carob or chocolate chips on top if you prefer. Bake about 25-30 minutes or until the edges are light brown. Cool for two minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Enjoy!
