Garden of Life Sponsored Athlete and Olympic Hopeful Katie Mackey Competes in Olympic Trials Televised on NBC Networks

See Katie Run! That’s what millions of viewers will be doing as Olympic hopeful mid-distance runner Katie Follett Mackey competes in the U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials starting today in Eugene, Oregon!

Televised on NBC and the NBC Sports Channel from June 28-30, we’ll be watching closely as Katie’s “Road to London” dream will come true if she qualifies for the summer Olympics.

As a Garden of Life sponsored athlete, we’re honored to fuel her for competition with everything from Raw Protein, Raw One multivitamins for Women, Wobenzym N, and Fruits of Life and Super Seed bars so she can leave all the other runners in the dust!

Katie’s running accolades stretch as long as her events, as she was an eight-time NCAA All-American at the University of Washington from 2006-2010, including the Pacific-10 champion in the 1,500 meter race in 2008 and 2009. She smashed several records in college before turning pro and signing with Brooks Running Apparel. Since then, her impressive accomplishments have included:

2011 Payton Jordan 1500, 1st in 4:08.95
2011 Occidental 1500, 1st in 4:07.44 pr
2011 Portand Track Festival 800, 1st in 2:02.63 pr
2011 USATF Outdoor Championships 1500, 8th
2011 USATF Club XC Championships 6k, 3rd 19:59 pr
2012 Millrose Wanamaker Metric Mile, 6th in 4:11.51
2012 Mt.Sac 5000, 15:31.59 pr

Last year, Katie was ranked in the top 10 in the U.S. for the mile and was also ranked in the half mile and 5K. After training with Run Portland since last fall when she said she loved running along the city’s waterfront, Katie moved from the West Coast to Boston where her husband, Danny, is working for Puma. Recently she won the 800 meter (half mile) in the New Balance Boston High Performance Track Series. Although she acknowledges that 2012 has been a year of transition for her, nothing will detract her from her goal of qualifying for the Olympics in Eugene.
