Remember when you were a kid on the playground? Get in that frame of mind again and head to the playground, park or another area where you can play as your workout! You can even pretend you’re a superhero or an explorer to make it more fun. Let your mind and your actions wander and set out to play with a purpose.
Here are a few suggestions, although you can get creative and think up some for yourself:
Climb the “climbers” or monkey bars and swing to and fro in areas that you can. You can also hang upside down (if you’re not too tall) or pretend that the monkey bars are one part of an obstacle course that you need to cross to get to your destination.
Hold on to the playground’s “merry go round” and run like the wind to make it turn as fast as possible. Pretend it’s a moving train or other vehicle that you need to get on to escape. Then land on it and ride until it slows down. Repeat as often as you wish.
Play games of hopscotch or tetherball, ride a scooter, put on your skates, or even run races from one end of the playground or park to the other, stopping off in places where you want to spend some time playing.
Now get out there and have some fun with your workout! Make it a playout.
