Ingredients

  • 3 large apples (such as Honeycrisp or Gala)
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • ½ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 2 Tbsp. maple syrup
  • ¼ tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 scoop Garden of Life Unflavored Collagen Peptides

Preparation

  1. Peel the apples, if desired. Cut them into slices, about ¼-inch thick, or chop into 1-inch cubes. Slicing is a good choice if you’re serving the apples on their own, while chopping is better if you’re planning to use the apples as a topping for ice cream, oatmeal, or yogurt.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet set over medium heat.
  3. Add the apples to the skillet, stirring to coat them in the butter. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle the apples with the cinnamon. Add the water to the skillet, cover, and cook until the apples are tender but not mushy, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  5. Uncover the skillet and pour in the maple syrup. Stir to coat. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Remove the skillet from the heat. Add the vanilla extract and sprinkle the collagen into an even layer over the apples. (Don’t dump the collagen in, otherwise the heat can make it clump.)
  7. Stir until the collagen powder is no longer visible. Serve the apples warm or transfer to an airtight container and store in the fridge.
