Garden of Life Sponsored Athlete Ingo Rademacher Joins Dancing With the Stars

At Garden of Life, our love affair with ABC’s Dancing With the Stars (DWTS) started last year when we discovered that winsome judge Carrie Ann Inaba was a fan of our Vitamin Code® RAW ONE™ for Women multivitamins.
This spring we are more dialed in than ever, as one of our sponsored athletes, Ingo Rademacher, attempts to waltz, tango and jive his way to the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy. Paired with professional dancer Kym Johnson, “Team Ingo” is expected to get plenty of votes from daytime soap opera fans who have drooled over Rademacher for 18 years when he played the role of Jasper Jacks on General Hospital. Other fans may have caught a glimpse of him last year in the homicide movie, Alex Cross. But what most of his admirers don’t realize is that he’s also an accomplished athlete who actively competes on the stand-up paddleboard (SUP) race circuit, a feat that requires balance and concentration that should help him immensely on DWTS.
A member of the YOLO SUP race team, sponsored by Garden of Life, Ingo moved to Hawaii last year so he could pursue his passion for paddleboarding. He’s already made his mark on the sport by winning several races in Florida and placing second in the 2011 Blue Ridge SUP Splash. He lives in Oahu with his wife Ehiku— who is also a SUP racer—and their two sons, Peanut and Pohaku. Whether he’s racing in Hawaii or filming scenes in Los Angeles, Ingo’s a staunch supporter of environmental movements such as Greenpeace, Water Keeper and Sea Shepherd. He also sits on the board of Heal the Bay in Santa Monica.
“I’m heavily involved in the ‘green’ movement,” said Ingo. “I am particularly against genetically modified foods (GMOs), and I’m currently active in a big campaign in Hawaii to get Monsanto off our islands!”
Ingo was born in a small village in West Germany, but later moved with his family to Australia, where he worked on a 400-acre cattle ranch and Angora goat station. His athletic pursuits started early, as he was a rugby player and a ski champion at the age of eight, a professional equestrian in jumping and dressage at age 10, and a professional beach volleyball player and Ironman triathlete in his teens. His partner on DWTS says his athletic skills should give him a leg up on the competition.
“He looks like a movie star, but he’s also athletic,” said Kym, who also noted that the two hit it off immediately because she also hails from Australia. “We’re Team Aussie!” Already in great shape from his intense paddleboard workouts, Ingo will be fueling his grueling dance sessions with Garden of Life supplements. For years, he’s been using Wobenzym® N for inflammation and everyday aches and pains, but now he’s added a RAW Organic Meal shake and several other supplements to his morning routine.
“It’s hard to find clean, USDA organic, non-GMO supplements,” said Ingo. “That’s why I’m telling everyone to check out Garden of Life and RAW Organic Meal!”
