Staying Active While Traveling: Weir Canyon Trail in Santiago Oaks Regional Park

Hike4Traveling for work doesn’t always have to be, well … work.

The weekend of March 11-13, I made the journey to Anaheim, California with Garden of Life for the 2016 Natural Products Expo West. Since most days were spent inside the Anaheim Convention Center promoting Garden of Life, the No. 1 brand in the industry, I made sure to designate one morning to getting active and exploring my surroundings.

In order to not completely forego my fitness routine and to take advantage of the scenic views California has to offer, I Googled some hiking trails nearby. I decided on Weir Canyon Trail, a 4-mile loop in Santiago Oaks Regional Park, grabbed a water bottle and a packet of RAW Fit for fuel, and made my way to the trail!

Weir Canyon Trail is a hike of rolling terrain on the side of Weir Canyon in Anaheim Hills below the Santa Ana Mountains. The sun-exposed trail passes sandstone formations and rises to views north toward Mount Baldy and the San Gabriel Mountains, where we even saw snowcapped mountains (that’s a big deal for a Florida girl)!

After two hours of perfect weather, discovering wildflowers and mysterious animal tracks, inclines that made me break a serious sweat, I felt energized and ready to tackle my first-ever Expo West experience!

Don’t ever get too bogged down in business to miss out on new experiences that traveling has to offer!
