Garden Of Life Hosts 5K Sun Run Challenge And Community Event To Benefit Special Olympics

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla., May 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Garden of Life®, the #1 selling whole food supplements brand in the Natural Products Industry with headquarters in Palm Beach Gardens, is inviting runners and walkers of all ages to its inaugural Sun Run 5K Challenge. The fun-filled community event is slated for Saturday, June 4 at PGA National on the scenic Champion Course, home of the PGA Tour’s famous Honda Classic. Everyone attending will receive free coffee at registration, a goody bag valued at $300, and a chance to win a brand new Honda® Fit car valued at $20,000. Garden of Life (www.gardenoflife.com) President Brian Ray said that a portion of the proceeds from race registration fees will benefit Special Olympics Florida – Palm Beach County.
“We’ve been long-time supporters of Special Olympics and their mission to embolden athletes with intellectual challenges,” said Ray. “When we moved to our new headquarters last year, we decided we wanted to do something meaningful for Special Olympics and the community. Our company employs more than 250 people from this area, so the Sun Run 5K is an opportunity for us to let everyone know we care about empowering extraordinary health here at home, as well as the rest of the world.”
Race day registration begins at 6 a.m. at PGA National or participants can register in advance online at gardenoflife5k.pbrace.com. Registration is $35 for the 5K Elite Heat and Adults, and $30 for Seniors and Students (18 and under). The race starts at 7:30 a.m. and all registered runners will receive a Sun Run 5K T-shirt, a Garden of Life goody bag, a personalized race bib and post-race breakfast. The Top Male and Top Female Finisher will each receive a $2,500 cash prize and all finishers will receive a medal and a chance to win the Honda Fit car through a random drawing (terms and conditions apply).
Immediately following the Sun Run, the fastest crawlers in South Florida will compete in the Garden of Life Diaper Derby at 9 a.m. for a $250 cash prize. Billed as the “Slowest Two Minutes in Sports,” babies will race across the mat while parents bribe them with toys or treats to rush to the finish line. The entry fee for the Diaper Derby is $10 at the race or online, and all parents registering crawlers will receive a special goody bag with gifts and offers for families.
