A Day in the Life of Cecilia Martin, Garden of Life’s eCommerce Project Manager

If you’ve visited the gardenoflife.com website—and we bet you have since that’s probably where you’re reading this—you'll know that a lot of thought and care went into how our hundreds of vitamins and supplements are displayed on the page, how they’re grouped, and how our search menu functions so you’re sure to find what you need when you come to shop with us. Behind the scenes, making continuous improvements to the site in order to make your Garden of Life experience the best it can be, is a “Gardener” (as we so love to call ourselves) named Cecilia Martin. 

Cecilia has been with Garden of Life since 2019 and is our eCommerce Project Manager. Meaning, she manages the day-to-day tasks that keep our website updated, including setting up the promotions and sales our customers love, and engaging in a never-ending quest to find ways to enhance your experience on our site. 

As a mid-twenty-something professional, Cecilia leads a busy, active life and turns to Garden of Life products to empower her extraordinary health. We sat down with Cecilia to see what her daily routine looks like, which podcasts she can’t live without, and which Garden of Life product she’d want with her if she were stranded on a deserted island. Come along with us to meet Cecilia.

Hi, Cecilia! Thanks for chatting with us!  

You have such an important role here at Garden of Life—can you tell us about any exciting work projects you have going on or coming up? 

Yes! I’m excited to say we have some exciting things planned for checkout ease and improving the overall user experience on the website! 

Awesome! We can’t wait for those to come to fruition. They’ll delight our customers, for sure. Now, here at GOL, our motto is Empowering Extraordinary Health®. What does “Empowering Extraordinary Health” mean to you? 

To me, empowering extraordinary health means spreading awareness and knowledge on the powerful benefits and ingredients that Garden of Life offers through their products. I am always more than happy to chat with friends, family, and strangers about the certifications Garden of Life has achieved and the impact we are making through all the products we offer. 

Daily Routine 

Now that we know what “Empowering Extraordinary Health” means to you, let’s talk about your routine, and how your daily choices support your health and wellness. 

How do you kick off your day? Are you a morning person or a night owl? What do you eat for breakfast? How do you spend your mornings? Give us all the deets! 

I am very much a morning person! As soon as I'm out of bed—which I make right away so I feel like I’ve accomplished something right from the start—I'm on my way to a HIIT workout at my local F45 gym and am most likely thinking about what I'll be eating for breakfast and what coffee I'll be drinking once I'm back. My go-to breakfast typically involves eggs in some form and avocado toast. Iced coffee year-round as well. 

Typically, I will take a Dr. Formulated Once Daily probiotic, Minami Omega-3 Softgel, and turmeric (either in gummy form or tablets) in the morning. 

What are your lunch plans? Do you eat at your desk? Outside on the patio? 

I switch between walking to the park to eat my lunch or eating inside my apartment. I try to eat my lunch away from my desk (depending on how crazy the day is) so that I can enjoy a nice break! If I cook the night before, I’ll be sure to prepare enough so I have leftovers for lunch the next day. But some days just call for a simple protein smoothie, packed with fruits, spinach, and a scoop of GOL Grass Fed Collagen Protein in Vanilla. Easy, filling, and energizing! 

How do you close your day? What is your routine? Which Garden of Life products do you take? 

I enjoy going to bed early during the work week, that way I can wake up feeling refreshed with a clear mind. I typically take mykind Organics Ashwagandha tablets at night to manage stress before bed, read a good book —usually a memoir or something health and wellness-related—and drink a cup of tea (or golden milk latte) in the fall and winter months!

Golden Milk Latte - I always feel so calm and relaxed after drinking this! Especially after a day where I had a harder workout or long run.

Let’s talk about some things that bring you joy when you’re not working... 

Are you diving into any podcasts, shows, or books at the moment?  

Podcasts: How I Built This, The Daily, Armchair Expert. 

Shows: Sign me up for any Bravo show—guilty pleasure for sure! I also love watching any and all documentaries. 

Books: I cannot recommend Stanley Tucci's book, TASTE, enough! I’m a big foodie and I enjoy traveling, so I love how this book is woven together. It’s part memoir, part travelogue, and part cookbook, and there’s also a great dynamic between his acting life and his passion for food. It’s a really great read and I think it’s one most people would enjoy. 

How do you fill your mindfulness bucket? 

My afternoon walks after work, and workouts in the morning really help me stay grounded and mindful throughout my days. Staying connected to friends and family as well, whether in person or chatting over the phone. Also, reading/journaling before I go to sleep at night. 

How do you get your movement in each day? 

I will go insane if I don’t prioritize working out, so getting in movement each day is always top of mind for me. I work out in the morning, and I like to take walks after the workday is over. Add in the occasional yoga session, hike, and ski trip, and I have a pretty well-rounded (for me) fitness routine.
